7th / 8th Grade Boys Tackle
Focus
Fundamentals and Form
We continue to reinforce fundamentals of passing and usage of space now adding contact in the form of tackling, rucking, line outs and scrums. These new set pieces are where Form is a key factor in both game strategy and safety. This is where Student Athletes grow more excited about the game of Rugby.
The competitive season completes with state championship playoffs. The skills learned here continue to grow student athletes understanding, expertise, and love for the game and prepares them for Highschool Rugby.

Head Coach
Gavin Schmitt & Trevor Heasley
Gavin & Trevor are co-coaching the 7/8 team starting 2024. We are excited to have them join us on the coaching side after being part of your Youth and High School programs.
Gavin Schmitt started playing rugby in 2015 (8th grade) under Lisa May and has loved the game ever since. He was part of the 2019 state championship Wolf Pack varsity team coached by John Fletcher and Dale Cheney.
Some of Gavin’s closest relationships have formed over the years through Rugby and continue to this day. This will be his first season coaching youth rugby and he can’t wait to get going.
Trevor Heasley’s rugby journey began in 2016 as he entered his Freshman year of high school. He immediately fell in love with the sport and the culture it provided. The physical aspects of the game and the camaraderie built between teammates, coaches, and other teams players is what fueled his passion towards the game.
Fast forward to 2019, Trevor was part of John Fletchers undefeated Wolf Pack who won the State Championship. Now he wants to step into a new world and begin his coaching journey. He hopes to pass on his knowledge of the game and his love of the sport to the incoming youth.
